My cicada-addicted dog ended up in the puppy emergency room last week. One too many winged beasts. He spent the night in the hospital because he was dehydrated and needed antibiotics and x-rays. Now I understand why people buy health insurance for their animals. I'm not planning to do it, but I understand it.
He's been on drugs all week and is fully recovered now. We've changed the route of our walks so as to avoid the laden trees.
Watching him gave me a new window into addiction. He chewed through his Gentle Leader one night and the other nights I had to fight to keep him under control. Now he's back to eating whatever nuts, berries, and cat scat he can snatch up and swallow before I can tell him to drop it.
