Tulips are just so all out, aren't they. They aren't the *first* to the party, but they're early; they shoot up to be the tallest flowers in garden (they're quite driven to be "head and shoulders" above the rest) and give their full glory for about two weeks. They put everything they have into it, no holds barred. Then they're done! They've partied the whole time, never even slowing down at night, then they abruptly disappear and sleep the rest of the year. "Y'all go an and do your thing without us; we're bushed." I love tulips, too. And don't they remind you of Marie Antoinette?
