Louisville the morning after the wind storm

I'm watching a storm damage news conference live on WAVE 3 television. Conditions are improving, but there's a long way to go.

All of the schools are closed.

One-third of all of LG&E's circuits are locked up and not working.

Of 96 substations, 65 have some degree of problems.

In spite of those statistics, only 111,000 locations (out of approximately 301,000 last night) remain without power.

It's going to take 10 to 14 days to restore power to all locations.

Power is expected to be out for an extended period of time. Local power crews that went south to assist Texas and Louisiana will be back in Kentucky tomorrow morning. Ordinarily, crews travel to assist each other, but none are available to assist us; rather, we're being asked to send crews to assist others. Which, of course, we can't do. Things, as they say, are tough all over.
