Hands Down

I had great fun making this piece for the "A Show of Hands" exhibit coming up at the International Quilt Festival in November. These touchable quilts will be hung from the ceiling, so both the front and back will show. At the end of the Festival, all the pieces will become part of the permanent collection of Creative Spirit Center in Midland, Michigan. My own and my beau's hand were the templates. I fused them to muslin with Timtex, used Pigma pens to document the story of our meeting, and then did the embroidery and binding by hand. It's an irregular (two-hand) shape, and the largest dimensions are 10.5 x 14 inches.

I love the hands you made! I considered making some but must admit that some of the ones I have seen are a little weird with their fake fingernails.

Your hands are playful and have inspired me to "try my hand" at it!

Those are going to be beautiful dangling from the ceiling.

Hello Calico! I somehow missed the Comments that were posted in the early days of this blog. Now I'm going back to add a few keywords and reading the comments at the same time. Did you ever get your hands made??
