Now and then

Arcadia Publishing has just released a book of mail-able vintage Louisville postcards. In honor of Veteran's Day, I'm showing the one of a mess hall at Camp [Zachary] Taylor. According to the text, "The floors had half-inch cracks between the boards through which to sweep crumbs and keep flies at a minimum." (By the way, I've found the books at the Walgreens check out counter.)
And because on Veteran's Day we honor not only the veterans but the ideals for which they fought, I'm including this card, taken at a January 18, 2003, peace march in San Francisco. Photographer: Anna Pomaska. If you visit her website, you can see a green Nuclear Mutant for Peace.
