Back then, Belle's Dolls was not yet established and the series of First Ladies and Presidents that Mother sculpted and for which Daddy cast molds weren't even a dream.
They'd made puppets when I was little, carved and dressed them, but this was an Island Pottery doll. The photo was taken on the picnic table in front of my folks' house on Fox Road.
