Let me add that if you want to help someone make their text messaging experience richer and simpler, it's probably better not to make changes a few days after his or her father has had a stroke.
I know my daughter had the best intentions, and I truly believe the "word" method of typing is more effective than the tap-tap-tap method I've used for 5 years. However, I'm a bit distracted these days and so have not yet been able to remember that I'm set for "word." So I type three words, erase them, switch from word to Abc, and type my message.
Unless I'm texting my daughter, in which case I mail it the way it is, 'cause I know she laughs every time.
