Mama Duck Defends Her Ducklings from Nefarious Raccoon
My compadre and I went out walking with the camera Tuesday, after Louisville got 6.5 inches of rain between 8:00 and 9:15. Water, water, everywhere creates problems for wildlife. We noted the duck with her ducklings-- then spotted the raccoon -- he made his move to grab a duckling -- the duck responded with much quacking and flapping and fluttering -- ducklings disappeared into Beargrass Creek -- Raccoon finally veered off into the weeds.
You know, I don't think I had any idea, before reading this post, that raccoons ATE DUCKLINGS. So I'm stuck pondering: "Well, Lisa, what did you THINK they ate?"
And I reply to myself: Cheese. Crawfish. Leftover bagels.

And that's pretty much it.
(Oh. Great photo series!)
