Wooohoooo! 100 Countries and Counting!

Amazing at things a person can accomplish while sick in bed.  Yesterday a visitor from Trinidad and Tobago put the number of countries that have visited this blog at 100.  How exciting is that?

I'd jump up and down but I've been sick in bed all week.  I picked up viral bronchitis last week at the Kentucky Arts Council event on business practices for emerging artists.  I went to the doctor Tuesday morning and, while I don't feel any better yet, at least I've stopped getting worse.

That doctor visit was followed by a trip to the drugstore, which took an eternity because the wrong dosage was written on the cough syrup prescription.  While I was checking out, the tornado warning siren began to wail.  This is how awful I felt:  I drove home with the siren still screaming on the assumption that if a tornado had flung me to the next county at least I'd be out of my misery.

I've known people, friends of mine, who've had bronchitis, but none of them ever reported on how ghastly an illness it is. I never had much of a fever or much of a cough, but when I do cough it feels as though my throat is on fire.  And I'm sick -- sick like the flu but a different kind of misery.  Lots of rest, lots of fluids, cough syrup with codeine.  I'm hoping to be well enough to spend tomorrow on the couch rather than in bed, but for now I'm still weak and woeful.

Trinidad and Tobago being the hundredth country is swell.  My dad was stationed in Trinidad during World War II, and while there he met a professional photographer who taught him the essentials of light and composition.  Last year a friend visited the country while on a cruise and sent me a magnet showing the country.  Connections; it's all about connections between people and communities.
